Álava Technology Park has the highest concentration of knowledge and talent in science and technology of any location in the territory. It acts as a focal point for the cutting edge of industry in Álava and the wider Basque Country, hosting a pool of companies, key agents and start-ups from the most strategic European sectors: Health and Biosciences; Energy and the Environment; Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering; and Electronic Information and Communication Technologies.

Since opening in 1992, the Park has established itself as a centre for the transfer of knowledge which, while fulfilling a range of other public and private sector initiatives, acts as a base for important companies such as Tecnalia, Aernnova Aerospace, the Centro de Tecnologías Aeronáuticas (‘Centre for Aeronautical Technology’), Siemens Engines R&D, Neiker, CIC energiGUNE and the Biotechnology Institute (BIT) R+D. The Basque Cybersecurity Centre has further boosted the emergence of a strategic business sector located in the heart of Álava.

Álava Technology Park forms a part of the Red de Parques Tecnológicos de Euskadi (‘Basque Network of Technology Parks’), an ecosystem for knowledge and talent which acts as a driving force for the goal of placing innovation and internationalisation at the centre stage of Basque industrial policy. The Network, which has already consolidated its position as an agent for strengthening the transfer of research and development to the business environment, encompasses a total of 580 companies distributed across three Parks, (Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa). Working alone, they have established themselves as decisive centres for innovation, while acting as a network they are able to share talent, vision and knowledge in order to generate wealth and boost wellbeing in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country.
