ADDIMAT joins AM-Europe and the Manifesto for a competitive Additive Manufacturing sector in Europe

ADDIMAT, the Spanish Association of Additive Manufacturing and 3D Technologies, has joined AM-Europe, the new platform led by CECIMO, the European Association of Manufacturing Technologies, which brings together the main national associations representing the additive manufacturing sector in Europe.

As the first milestone of this initiative, the Manifesto for a Competitive Additive Manufacturing Sector in Europe has been presented, defining a shared vision and strategic roadmap to position Europe as a global leader in this key technology.

Additive manufacturing is a driver for industrial resilience, the green and digital transition, and the competitiveness of European companies. However, its large-scale adoption continues to face challenges such as the need for more investment, policy alignment, training of specialised talent and strengthening public-private collaboration.

In this context, AM-Europe emerges as the new platform that gives a single voice to the additive manufacturing sector in Europe. Driven by CECIMO and backed by the influence and established track record of the national industry associations that support it, AM-Europe brings together the efforts of organisations that have been working in a coordinated manner for years to promote additive manufacturing in Europe.

CECIMO was a pioneer in recognising the strategic potential of additive manufacturing. Back in 2015, the association created a specific working group to promote and disseminate these emerging technologies. Subsequently, in 2018, it went one step further by setting up a specific division dedicated exclusively to defending the AM sector, thus consolidating its role as a key interlocutor with European institutions and international industrial players.

With the launch of AM-Europe and the publication of this Manifesto, the sector reaffirms its commitment to work in a coordinated manner and with a single voice to definitively promote additive manufacturing in Europe. Among the strategic recommendations included in the Manifesto are:

  • The development of a coordinated European strategy for additive manufacturing, similar to the existing action plan for artificial intelligence.
  • The creation of a European public-private entity to act as a reference point for the sector, centralising information on regulations, standardisation, market access and R&D.
  • The consideration of additive manufacturing as a critical technology for industrial resilience and emergency response, thanks to its capacity for localised, flexible and rapid production.
  • The promotion of training and qualification programmes to ensure a skilled workforce that will enable the sector to grow.

ADDIMAT, as the representative of the Spanish additive manufacturing ecosystem, supports this initiative and reiterates its commitment to actively contribute to the objectives of AM Europe. Spain, with a solid, competitive and constantly growing industrial sector, is ready to be a leading player in this process.
