AR Racking Drives MercadoLibre’s Expansion in Colombia

With an innovative 10.30 metre high racking system, AR Racking strengthens its presence in the Latin American ecommerce and fintech sector.

The new installation has a selective storage system with 3,360 positions and 20,000 m² of floor space to support the growth of MercadoLibre in Colombia.

AR Racking, a leading company in storage solutions, has successfully completed a new project in Colombia for MercadoLibre Colombia, one of the multinational ecommerce giants in the region. This project, carried out in MercadoLibre’s new facilities in Cota, Cundinamarca, is a clear sign of the company’s sustained growth in the country and the trust placed in AR Racking to provide an efficient and quality storage solution. With a surface area of approximately 20,000 m² and a total of 3,360 positions, this storage system has been designed to maximise the use of space and offer greater operational capacity to MercadoLibre in its continuous expansion process.

The system installed is a selective single-depth storage (AR PAL), ideal for efficient space organisation and fast inventory turnover. This single-depth racking is composed of 5 storage levels, with a load capacity per level of 2,000 kg, allowing for robust and safe goods handling. This system was specially designed to store American pallets (1000mm x 1200mm x 1900mm), which facilitates the optimisation of vertical space in the warehouse, whose top level is at a height of 10.30 metres.

MercadoLibre, which is among the main players in the ecommerce and fintech sector in Latin America, has relied on the experience and technical capacity of AR Racking to develop this solution. The installation of this storage system is another step in the consolidation of the company in Colombia, where its presence continues to grow steadily.
