ASPEGI once again recognises female talent, innovation and leadership in Gipuzkoa
Eider Sánchez, CEO of Naru, a company located on the Donostia Campus of the Basque Country Technology Park, will receive the 2026 ASPEGI Award in the Businesswoman category for her contribution to the field of artificial intelligence applied to health.
Leire Mugerza Garate, chair of the Governing Council of Eroski, has also been honoured in this edition in the Executive/Professional category.
On 19 February, the Basque Country Technology Park will host the eleventh edition of the ASPEGI Awards, which recognise the talent, innovation and leadership of women who are leaders in the economic and business fabric of Gipuzkoa. In this edition, the jury has decided to award the ASPEGI 2026 Award in the Businesswoman category to Eider Sánchez, co-founder and CEO of the technology company Naru.
Eider Sánchez leads Naru, a company specialising in the application of artificial intelligence and big data to the healthcare field, with a special focus on oncology. A telecommunications engineer and doctorate holder from the University of the Basque Country, she has a solid track record in research and technology transfer, which she has successfully translated into the development of innovative solutions with a real impact on the healthcare system.
The jury particularly valued her ability to combine scientific excellence and business vision, as well as her commitment to responsible innovation, equal opportunities and the promotion of the healthtech ecosystem in Gipuzkoa. Under her leadership, Naru has established itself as a benchmark in the use of advanced technologies in the service of personalised medicine and improved patient care.
In this eleventh edition, ASPEGI will also honour Leire Mugerza Garate, chair of the Governing Council of Eroski and chair of the Congress and Standing Committee of MONDRAGON, with the ASPEGI 2026 Award in the Executive/Professional category.
