Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, News

The company will be in charge of the design and environmental impact study, as part of the Metro Porto 3.0 expansion plan.

The new routes will have 38 stations and will reach a total length of 40 kilometres, with an investment of 1 billion euros.

The consortium led by Ayesa, together with the Portuguese engineering firm GRID, has been awarded the contracts for the design and environmental studies associated with the four new metro lines that will link the towns of Porto, Gondomar, Trofa, Maia and Matosinhos. These projects are part of the Metro Porto 3.0 expansion plan, and will support the growth of the towns, improve public transport and mobility, relieve traffic congestion and promote sustainable urban development in Porto.

This milestone marks a turning point in Porto’s metro expansion plan, which will add 40 kilometres and 38 new stations to the existing infrastructure by 2030, through an investment of close to one billion euros. The expansion of this road network will revolutionise connectivity throughout the Porto metropolitan area, linking key regions and providing better public transport options for residents and visitors.

These new contracts consolidate Ayesa’s experience and leadership in the development and execution of railway infrastructure projects in Portugal, after the supervision and construction management of the extension of the Yellow Line of the Porto Metro, inaugurated last June 28th, or the design of the Ruby Line, whose construction is already underway.
