Ayesa will use AI to detect frailty and dependency in elderly people at an early stage
Leading the BIZIA R&D project, which seeks to establish a revolutionary healthcare model based on disruptive technologies
Ayesa Digital is leading an R&D project supported by the SPRI Group —Basque Business Development Agency— through the HAZITEK Programme to promote business R&D in the Basque Country, which aims to underpin a smart digital ecosystem to transform the current healthcare model. BIZIA (Basque Intelligent Healthcare & Social Assistance), promoted by a multidisciplinary consortium of companies and scientific agents from the Basque Country, was created with a clear purpose: to be at the forefront of digital health and social healthcare in Europe.
Ageing is a challenge in modern societies that requires a change in the healthcare model, with technological solutions that improve the diagnosis and prevention of diseases and the efficient management of social and healthcare resources. BIZIA responds to this reality by detecting the physical and cognitive frailty and dependence of older people at an early stage.
Thanks to the application of advanced federated data exchange techniques, artificial intelligence and IoT sensors, the system will be able to collect, digitise and analyse health and social data in a secure and ethical manner. This will enable the early identification of signs of deterioration, anticipate risk situations and facilitate decision-making by professionals.
BIZIA will drive the transition towards a more personalised, predictive, preventive and person-centred care model, one of the strategic pillars of the Basque Country Science, Technology and Innovation Plan 2030 (PCTI 2030). It will also contribute to the Basque strategy for Personalised Healthcare and Healthy Ageing, aligning itself with the European initiatives GAIA-X and European Health Data Space (EHDS) for the responsible and federated use of health data.
