BCARE receives the Iberdrola Supplier of the Year Award in the Energy Transition category

BCARE, a spin-off from CIC energiGUNE to offer value-added services to industry in the field of energy storage, has received the Iberdrola Supplier of the Year Award in the Energy Transition category. The energy company’s decision was announced on 12 November, at a ceremony held at Torre Iberdrola attended by representatives of the entire supplier ecosystem of the business group and attended by the Chairman of Iberdrola, Ignacio Sánchez-Galán.

‘Thanks to the effort and dedication of a small group of men and women who have a passionate enthusiasm, and to their energy and daily work, I am here today collecting this award. Thank you team, this award is for you’, said BCARE’s general manager, Soraya Romo Díez, on accepting the award at the prize-giving ceremony.

Romo Díez also had words of thanks for Iberdrola Redes Eléctricas Inteligentes and the Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub for the support and trust shown from day one, since ‘working hand in hand with them, we have learned and developed our products’. She also made special mention of ‘the initiative and entrepreneurship of the founding partners of BCARE, Javier Olarte and CIC energiGUNE, who bet on this project in 2018’.

In this regard, the director of BCARE highlighted the importance of the Research Centres of the Basque Science and Technology Network, ‘which not only help companies to grow but also collaborate with the growth of the ecosystem with the creation of new technology-based companies. We are very fortunate in the Basque Country because we have an excellent network’, he concluded.

In awarding the Supplier of the Year Award in the Energy Transition category to BCARE, Iberdrola highlighted ‘permanent availability, rapid response and compliance with the prototypes requested’ as decisive elements.

With the Supplier of the Year Award, Iberdrola recognises the key role of the value chain in the achievement of the company’s strategic projects, committing to consolidating an ecosystem of suppliers that share the same objectives. It also reiterates its commitment to encouraging business management in aspects such as sustainable development, safety and quality, innovation, internationalisation and job creation.
