Beaz launches a new innovation challenge: HOW CAN THE VISIBILITY OF ROAD MARKINGS BE IMPROVED IN RAINY AND ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS?

Bizkaia, News

The initiative, promoted in conjunction with the Infrastructure Department of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, seeks innovative solutions to improve road safety and will remain open until February 2026.

Beaz reaffirms its commitment to open and collaborative innovation as a driver of diversification and growth in the region’s economic fabric. In line with this, the organisation continues to promote cooperation between leading companies and the entrepreneurial ecosystem — made up of start-ups, SMEs, technology centres and universities — with the aim of responding to high-impact strategic challenges.

On this occasion, the Department of Infrastructure and Territorial Development of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia is joining this dynamic by launching a challenge focused on road safety: improving the visibility of road markings on roads subject to heavy rain and adverse weather conditions. The challenge raises the need to develop innovative solutions that reinforce the legibility and durability of horizontal signage, thus contributing to safer traffic.

In order to present the scope of the challenge and answer any questions, an online information session will be held on 5 February for all individuals and organisations interested in participating. During this meeting, the technical aspects of the challenge and the participation process will be explained.

The call for entries will remain open until 20 February 2026, and all the detailed information can be found on the BIOK! website. The winning team will have the opportunity to develop a pilot project together with the Infrastructure Department of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, validating their proposal in a real environment and contributing to improving safety on the region’s road network.
