Violin legend Pinchas Zukerman and cellist Amanda Forsyth, who are sharing the stage with Euskadiko Orkestra these days in their Symphonic Season, will offer a special edition of the Matinées de Miramon this Saturday, 30 November, at 11:00. Last tickets on sale
This Saturday, November 30th, at 11:00, the fifth date of the Miramon Matinee Season, the chamber music cycle of the Euskadiko Orkestra, will take place. This is a special event, as two great stars of the international scene will take the stage at Miramon, the violinist Pinchas Zukerman and the cellist Amanda Forsyth. These days they are both starring in the fourth symphonic programme of the orchestra’s Season, ‘Mozart / Beethoven’.
Zukerman is a figure of international stature, sponsored in his early days by Isaac Stern and Pau Casals, and who has performed all the great literature for the violin alongside the most famous musicians of the 20th century, developing particularly close ties with artists such as Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim or Jacqueline du Pré. His discography is immense, he has recorded more than 100 works and has won the Grammy twice, and he is also a skilful orchestra conductor.
As for Forsyth, he is a cello star in his native Canada. He has been principal cellist of the Calgary Philharmonic and the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and in his solo forays he has collaborated with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Garrick Ohlsson, Yefim Bronfman and Wynton Marsalis.
In this concert they will offer us duos for violin and cello by two contemporary composers: the Ukrainian Reinhold Gliere and the Hungarian Zoltan Kodaly. In addition, Zukerman and Forsyth will give live explanations of the works they will perform.
Last tickets on sale (11€) at euskadikoorkestra.eus and at the Kursaal Auditorium box office. They can also be purchased on the day of the concert, subject to availability, at the box office of the orchestra’s headquarters in Miramon.
To attend the Matinées de Miramon, Euskadiko Orkestra is providing a free bus service. It leaves at 10:25 am from Gipuzkoa Plaza 4 and stops at Sancho El Sabio 18 and Avda. de Madrid 34.
