CIDETEC and the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country strengthen their collaboration by signing a strategic agreement

CIDETEC and the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country (EHU) have formalised a collaboration agreement that makes CIDETEC an ‘ESTU Collaborating Entity’ of the Faculty. The aim of this agreement is to promote practical training for students and strengthen ties between the academic and technological worlds.

This signing represents another step forward in a collaboration that dates back to the origins of CIDETEC. The centre was founded in 1997 with the aim of developing electrochemical technologies, on the initiative of staff linked to the Faculty. Since then, they have worked together on research projects and consolidated a relationship that has allowed CIDETEC to grow by incorporating doctors trained at the Faculty, complemented by profiles in engineering and other disciplines to respond to market needs. Today, CIDETEC is an international benchmark in energy storage technologies and surface engineering.

‘This agreement symbolises the continuity of a relationship that has been key to technological development in the Basque Country. We remain committed to training and knowledge transfer,’ said Javier Rodríguez Parra, Director General of CIDETEC.

Jon Mattin Matxain Beraza, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country, emphasised: ‘The collaboration with CIDETEC reinforces our commitment to employability and innovation, offering our students unique opportunities to connect with industry.’

Through this agreement, the Faculty of Chemistry undertakes to raise awareness of the opportunities offered by CIDETEC to students, facilitate the organisation of joint conferences and publicise the collaboration through its official channels. For its part, CIDETEC will provide financial and material resources, organise visits and training sessions, and guarantee a minimum remuneration for students on work placements.
