Councillor Mikel Jauregi opens the 24th Advanced Manufacturing and Machine Tool Congress
From 29 to 31 October, the capital of Donostia welcomes specialists in digitalisation, additive manufacturing, robotics, AI, cybersecurity and machine safety
Once again, the Donostia Campus of the Basque Country Technology Park becomes the capital of the digital industry thanks to AFM Cluster, which has inaugurated the 24th edition of the Advanced Manufacturing and Machine Tool Congress. For three days, experts in subjects related to the most cutting-edge manufacturing technologies will attend a meeting that combines lectures, presentations, debates, B2B meetings and an exhibition area.
The opening of the Congress was attended by the Minister for Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi, who, in addition to highlighting the importance of AFM and the sector itself, which he described as ‘a strategic sector for the Basque Country’, pointed out that the Basque Country Industry Plan 2030 ‘prioritises investment in projects in current driving sectors, such as advanced manufacturing’.
In this regard, Jauregi explained to those attending the Congress that “the aim of the plan is to strengthen the competitiveness of our industry. It is a plan with a national focus and public-private collaboration. It is based on a model of collaboration between industrial leaders and their Basque supply chain and technology centres, in order to gain in technology and differentiation. It is being developed through transformative projects, which will provide a major boost to the country’s industrial transformation.”
In addition, the Minister for Industry presented a guide produced by Basque Trade & Investment of the SPRI Group entitled ‘Roadmap for verifying dual-use export controls’, a guidance document for verifying exports that may be subject to dual use, providing companies with “a clear framework for identifying when a licence may be required and how to proceed in each case. Our aim is to provide clarity, raise awareness and educate, not only the export industry, which has always behaved in an exemplary manner with regard to legality, but also other agents who are confused and have doubts about this issue. The Government’s doors are open to guide and assist anyone who has any questions. Let us not cast doubt on our export industry. The work that all of you in the industry do is the key to the progress, wealth and well-being of this country,” concluded Jauregi.
