Dr. Athina Kanioura is Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at PepsiCo. An innovator and transformation leader, Kanioura oversees PepsiCo’s comprehensive strategy to ensure success both at the corporate level and in key markets, including digitalisation strategy. She also leads the company’s global transformation, ensuring PepsiCo’s size and scope are leveraged to accelerate growth, in addition to overseeing the areas of Data Products, Platforms and Talent.
Prior to joining PepsiCo, Dr. Kanioura was Director of Analytics and Global Head of Applied Intelligence at Accenture, where she specialized in the application of AI and data analytics to drive business value. Dr. Kanioura specialises in business transformation with a focus on data and technology, and has extensive experience in sectors such as telecommunications, oil and gas, financial services and consumer goods, having worked with companies such as Mondelez, Unilever, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser, Philip Morris and Adidas.
Dr Kanioura is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical and Economics Society, where she contributes to government policy formulation on the use of data in bodies such as the IMF. She is also on the board of the Institute of Marketing Science and is a passionate educator who has taught at UMIST (UK), Imperial College London (UK) and the University of Sheffield (UK), where she also obtained her PhD in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics.
