Ingeteam consolidates its internationalisation with the manufacture of electric vehicle chargers in the USA

Bizkaia, News

Ingeteam will expand its production plant located in Milwaukee, USA, to meet the strong demand for electric vehicle chargers announced by the Biden administration.

To combat the climate crisis, the US has announced the deployment of a nationwide network of 500,000 electric vehicle chargers along its highways.

Ingeteam is consolidating its internationalisation with the expansion of its plant in Milwaukee, USA, to manufacture electric vehicle chargers for the North American market. In this way, the company is responding to the announcement by the Biden administration, which will carry out a major deployment of electric vehicle chargers along its highways.

Thus, the company is committed to a 13,000 m2 expansion to meet the strong demand that this type of product will have in the coming years, which has been estimated at a national network of 500,000 charging points.

With this expansion, Ingeteam’s new electric vehicle charger production lines in the USA will have a production capacity of more than 13,000 units per year. These chargers range from 7.5 kW to 420 kW and will meet the high quality standards and requirements set by Buy America of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Production is expected to start in the second half of 2023.

It should be noted that among the different types of EV chargers that Ingeteam will manufacture is the RAPID 180 kW ultra-fast charger, which was awarded the globally recognised Red Dot Design Award by the German organisation Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen.

“This expansion of our US plant responds to our high technological capacity and our commitment to contribute to accelerating the construction of the electric vehicle charging network on North American highways,” said Jesús Rodríguez, executive vice president of Ingeteam EV Chargers USA.

Since the opening of Ingeteam’s Milwaukee plant in 2010, the company has manufactured more than 3,000 wind generators and supplied 2.5 GW of solar inverters and energy storage for the US market.

Over the last decade, the Services division has also been providing operations and maintenance support to the different business units across the US and collaborating with wind and solar customers offering a wide variety of services, now adding value to the EV charging ecosystem.
