His scientific impact can be summarised as being the most highly rated researcher in manufacturing engineering in Spain. For many years he has been closely linked to the Basque and national machine tool, manufacturing engineering and aeronautics sectors. He teaches at the School of Engineering in Bilbao.

The Royal Academy of Engineering of Spain is an institution that promotes the excellence, quality and competence of Spanish engineering in its various disciplines and fields of activity. Once a month the 60 academicians are summoned to meet in plenary session, to analyse, debate and organise all issues related to the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The academicians are 60 outstanding professionals from the different disciplines of Engineering and Architecture, coming from the academic and business spheres, who carry out their task of promoting the quality and competence of Spanish Engineering.

“With our partner, the machine tool sector and the even wider range of its users in key sectors such as aeronautics, new energies, automotive, etc. will have a qualified voice that will make known the values that our companies represent, and the people who work there every day to generate socio-economic value”, emphasises the statement of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

CFAA

The Centre for Advanced Aeronautical Manufacturing (CFAA) was created as a new model of relationship at research levels with application close to the market, promoted and financed by the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, of which a Business Grouping forms part, and which has the help of the Science and Technology Park of Bizkaia in the launching of the project.

It is constituted as a joint centre of the University of the Basque Country with the aim of working with a direct focus on final applications as well as generating new knowledge in advanced manufacturing technologies. The work carried out at the centre is oriented towards working on and developing Manufacturing Readiness Levels 6-7, where validation tests in representative environments are required. The CFAA is located on the Zamudio/Derio Campus of the Basque Technology Parks and is an important part of the university’s invoicing to companies.
