Over 400 people discover the cutting-edge infrastructure of Spain’s science and technology parks

On 13 and 14 November, 15 science and technology parks belonging to the Spanish Association of Science and Technology Parks (APTE) opened their doors to the public as part of the APTE Innovation Spaces initiative, allowing more than 400 visitors to discover 17 of their most innovative facilities.

At the Basque Country Technology Park, two visits were made to the CIC biomaGUNE Molecular and Functional Imaging Unit located on the Donostia Campus.

Through 20 guided tours organised in nine autonomous communities, attendees had the opportunity to explore Unique Scientific and Technical Infrastructures (ICTS) and other innovation environments in sectors such as electronics, biotechnology, energy and immersive technologies.

The initiative received high participation from civil society (68%), along with involvement from companies (20%), researchers (5%) and representatives of public administrations (7%), reflecting the growing interest in learning first-hand how innovation is generated in Spain.

Espacios de Innovación APTE aims to raise the profile of ICTS and other spaces dedicated to scientific experimentation and technological development, highlighting their essential role in creating knowledge and driving innovation. Spanish science and technology parks account for 58% of the country’s ICTS, making them strategic players in national scientific and technological advancement.
