The ‘Science and Technology in Feminine’ initiative, promoted by the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE) together with 19 of its member parks, has begun its eighth edition with the publication of the first list of leading women in STEAM linked to science and technology parks. This new resource, available on the APTE website, brings together 80 professionals from 38 member parks, who work in fields as diverse as biomedicine, engineering, artificial intelligence, energy, meteorology and nanotechnology.

The aim of this list is to give visibility to leading female profiles in the field of science and technology and to bring real role models closer to the younger generations, helping to reduce the gender gap in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) vocations.

The launch event coincided with an inaugural online session in which four prominent women from the list participated:

Aitziber L. Cortajarena, Ikerbasque Research Professor and Scientific Director at CIC biomaGUNE (Basque Technology Park, Donostia Campus);
Sofía Schneider, Vice President of the Data Platform South & Málaga Site Leader at Oracle (Málaga TechPark);
Tamara Fernández Fernández, Founding Partner and Project Director at Ingeniacity (Gijón Science and Technology Park);
Samira Khodayar Pardo, Director of the Meteorology and Climatology Department at the Centre for Environmental Studies of the Mediterranean (CEAM) (Valencia Technology Park).

During the meeting, the speakers shared their professional and personal trajectories, reflected on the impact of female visibility in science and technology, and addressed the challenges of women’s leadership in innovation ecosystems. The session highlighted the importance of creating accessible role models, fostering collaborative environments, and promoting purposeful leadership that accelerates the transformation towards a more equal and innovative society.
