At the awards ceremony held at the Kursaal, the President of the Technology Park, Jaione Ganzarain, stressed that ‘the 203 companies of the Donostia and Hernani Campuses are the real protagonists of this recognition’.

The Euskadi Technology Park in Gipuzkoa has been distinguished with the Award for Excellence in Research, awarded annually by the radio station Radio San Sebastian, and whose awards ceremony took place in the Kursaal Palace. The organisers of the awards, now in their seventh year, highlighted the importance of the Technology Park as ‘a driving force for development, promoting the transfer of knowledge and technology, and attracting companies and researchers to make Gipuzkoa a benchmark in innovation, talent and sustainability’.

The Award for Excellence in the ‘Research’ category was collected by the president of the Euskadi Technology Park, Jaione Ganzarain, who, after thanking the award, wanted to highlight that the real protagonists of this award are the 203 companies currently installed on the Donostia and Hernani Campuses. ‘Your work and your dedication, which every day help to position Gipuzkoa as a reference centre for research on an international level, are the driving force that pushes us towards excellence’, he said.

Ganzarain also wanted to highlight the impact of the Biosciences Pole that has been consolidated in Gipuzkoa, ‘an ecosystem with very powerful driving companies, some of which started in incubation in the Technology Park, such as Viralgen or VIVE Biotech, which can enjoy optimal infrastructures and an ideal socio-sanitary environment on our campuses’.

The ‘Radio San Sebastian Awards for Excellence’ distinguish and publicly recognise people, companies or institutions in Gipuzkoa that have become outstanding references for Gipuzkoan society, and they do so through nine different categories: music, business, sport, art and culture, gastronomy, research, social impact, Basque, and humanities and communication, as well as awarding a general prize from the audience.

In the case of the Euskadi Technology Park, winner in the ‘Research’ category, the broadcaster recalled that ‘on its 30th anniversary, the Technology Park is celebrating three decades of promoting research and innovation in the region’ and that it is still committed to growth, with projects such as the extension of Campus Donostia towards Illumbe – on which it continues to work with the City Council in administrative areas -, the construction of the new eco-sustainable building of Campus Hernani, or the first steps towards the construction of the Hondarribia Campus.
