The Basque Government has launched BidaIA: a roadmap to help SMEs integrate Artificial Intelligence into their processes in a structured and gradual manner

Through BidaIA, Basque SMEs will be able to advance their digital transformation by effectively integrating AI into their processes and thereby boost their competitiveness

The Basque Government’s Minister for Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi, has presented BidaIA in Bilbao, an initiative created to help industrial SMEs advance their digital transformation through the adoption of artificial intelligence.

Minister Mikel Jauregi noted that according to the World Economic Forum report, recently presented in Davos, “in OECD countries, over the next five years, 80% of companies will adopt AI in their processes, which will impact the way 40% of jobs are carried out. That is why the Basque Government is launching BidaIA to stay ahead of the curve and support SMEs on this journey. SMEs are the backbone of our industry.”

In addition, BidaIA has been launched. It is a roadmap designed to help SMEs integrate Artificial Intelligence into their processes in a structured and gradual manner.

Artificial Intelligence to drive the digital transformation of SMEs

Artificial Intelligence plays a key role in the digital transformation of SMEs. BidaIA aims to map out the path they need to follow to integrate AI into their processes and boost their competitiveness.

BidaIA offers a roadmap so that each SME can chart its own course in adopting AI. The process begins with an assessment to identify their starting point. It continues with defining the level of ambition – how far the SME wishes to go – and is broken down into incremental steps, in a progressive and realistic manner. The objective is clear: to use digital transformation as a lever to boost competitiveness.

SMEs will be supported throughout the entire journey. The Basque Government, in addition to investing 28 million euros, will guide SMEs through SPRI and BAIC. Leading industries will provide vision and the Basque Country’s ICT sector will contribute its technical capabilities to facilitate adoption.

Following the presentation of BidaIA, work will begin with interested SMEs. Specific opportunities will be identified and upcoming developments analysed to help improve their processes.
