The Basque Technology Parks end 2011 with 5% higher turnover and more employment

Despite the backdrop of widespread crisis, the companies at the four Parks generated a turnover of 3,706 million euros, 176 million more than in 2010. The number of jobs rose slightly and now stands at 14,436, with the number of companies remaining at just over 420. 40% of Basque companies’ R+D expenditure is made at the technology parks, which are a symbol of innovation.

The four Parks in the Basque Technology Park Network (Álava Technology Park, Bizkaia Science and Technology Park, San Sebastián Technology Park and Garaia Innovation Park), ended 2011 with 5% higher turnover and a practically unchanged number of jobs and resident companies.

The number of firms based at the Álava, Bizkaia and San Sebastián Technology Parks and the Garaia Innovation Park in December 2011 was 424, compared with the 428 registered in 2010. The number of direct jobs was 14,436, while the figure for 2010 was 14,418. The turnover generated by the companies at the Basque Parks was 3,706 million euros, 176 million (5%) more than in 2010.
