Virgilio García, president of ADDIMAT, appointed president of the European Additive Manufacturing Committee promoted by CECIMO – European Association of Manufacturing Technologies

ADDIMAT strengthens its role in CECIMO, the leading European forum for the sector, with a Spanish chair at the helm of the Additive Manufacturing Committee
ADDIMAT, the Spanish Association of Additive Manufacturing Technologies, whose headquarters are located at the Donostia Campus of the Basque Technology Park, has announced that its president, Virgilio García, has been appointed as the new president of CECIMO’s European Additive Manufacturing Committee.
CECIMO is the European Association of Manufacturing Technologies, which acts as the voice of the sector at both European and global level. With a priority focus on machine tool and additive manufacturing technologies, CECIMO plays a leading role in representing European advanced manufacturing industries on the international stage, on a par with other major industrial powers such as the United States and Asia. By bringing together national associations from across Europe, CECIMO defends the interests of the European industrial ecosystem and actively contributes to defining a competitive and future-oriented industrial strategy. In the case of Spain, AFM Cluster, under whose umbrella ADDIMAT operates, represents the country within this European network.
With more than 50 years of experience defending the interests of European machine tool manufacturers, CECIMO expanded its strategy in 2015 to support the development of emerging industrial technologies such as additive manufacturing, creating a specific division and team for this purpose.
The European Additive Manufacturing Committee, created in 2018 under the umbrella of CECIMO, aims to accelerate the industrial adoption of additive manufacturing technologies in Europe. This group works in key areas for the effective industrialisation of additive manufacturing, including the development of an appropriate regulatory framework at European level, workforce training and qualification, international trade, and the collection and analysis of data and statistics specific to the additive manufacturing sector.
Since its creation, ADDIMAT has played an active role within this committee, contributing to the development of strategic initiatives and the international projection of the European additive manufacturing ecosystem.
