A SARENET data space solution among the most advanced in Spain’s ecosystem
Recognition enables HUCAÍN to join SEDIA’s Trust List
Sarenet, the operator specialising in voice, data and hosting services for businesses, has announced the inclusion of HUCAÍN in the Data Spaces Trust List promoted by the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA). This recognition certifies the project’s level of technical, organisational and operational maturity, placing it among the select group of officially recognised data spaces in Spain.
At present, the Trust List includes only 25 data spaces across the country, making this addition a particularly significant milestone within the national data economy ecosystem.
Inclusion in this list represents far more than institutional recognition. To become part of it, HUCAÍN was required to demonstrate, through a dedicated technical report, key aspects such as clear governance, genuine capability for secure data exchange, interoperability, sustainability of the model, and use cases applicable to business and industrial environments.
SEDIA established this framework specifically to distinguish fully operational projects from initiatives that remain in experimental phases or are limited exclusively to R&D. In this regard, HUCAÍN’s inclusion validates the consolidation of a genuine model for collaboration and secure data exploitation aimed at addressing the specific needs of industrial companies.
“This recognition reinforces the work undertaken to build a useful and operational data space aligned with European standards for interoperability, security and data sovereignty. Being part of the Trust List confirms that HUCAÍN already has a solid foundation to generate real value through the secure exchange of information,” highlights Jon Arberas, Managing Director of Sarenet.
A data space designed for industry
HUCAÍN has been designed to address increasingly important challenges facing the industrial sector, particularly in areas related to traceability, sustainability and the secure exchange of information between organisations.
The data space enables the integration of information from different business and production environments, the automation of processes associated with carbon footprint management, and the facilitation of reliable data exchange between different stakeholders within the industrial ecosystem.
This becomes particularly relevant in a context shaped by new European regulatory requirements, such as the Digital Product Passport, sustainability obligations and the need for advanced traceability across supply chains.
Companies will increasingly be required to share information relating to materials, production processes, emissions and regulatory compliance, not only internally but also with customers, suppliers, partners and public administrations. In this context, having infrastructures capable of sharing information in a structured, interoperable and secure manner will be a key factor in maintaining business competitiveness.
Driving the data economy
The Trust List forms part of the national and European strategy to promote secure and interoperable data spaces that foster new models of collaboration between organisations.
HUCAÍN’s inclusion confirms that the project already meets the standards required to operate in environments where reliability, governance and the secure exchange of information will be critical to the development of the digital economy and industrial transformation.
With this recognition, HUCAÍN further strengthens its position as one of the benchmark projects within Spain’s data space ecosystem, consolidating its commitment to innovation, data sovereignty and the advanced digitalisation of industry.
