BASQUE FOOD CLUSTER launches a free tool to help food SMEs measure their sustainability and gain competitiveness

The FoodESG project offers companies a practical resource for adapting to European criteria and market demands
BASQUE FOOD CLUSTER has made a free digital tool available to all food and beverage companies in the Basque Country that facilitates the preparation of sustainability reports based on ESG criteria and European reporting standards. These reports are increasingly in demand by customers, administrations and other market players, as they demonstrate companies’ real commitment to sustainability, strengthen corporate reputation, facilitate investment attraction and help ensure business viability in the medium and long term. With this tool, now available on the BASQUE FOOD CLUSTER website and aimed specifically at SMEs, companies will be able to easily report on their progress and highlight their contribution, without having to take on a heavy administrative burden.
The solution promoted by BASQUE FOOD CLUSTER covers all key areas for measuring the sustainability of a food company: carbon footprint and energy efficiency; water management, biodiversity and animal welfare; circular economy and food waste reduction; working conditions, health and well-being of workers; gender equality, diversity and inclusion; corporate governance and contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a result of the process, companies obtain a comprehensive and detailed report with which to communicate their progress and improvement plans to customers, administrations and society.
