CIDETEC Surface Engineering collaborates in the development of a drone manufactured with its patented 3R material

The RECICOM project has made it possible to recover carbon fibre from composites at the end of their useful life and integrate it into new 3R materials for aeronautical applications, such as the manufacture of drones.
CIDETEC Surface Engineering has actively participated in the recently completed RECICOM project, whose objective has been to advance towards greater sustainability in the aeronautical sector through the development of innovative solutions for the recovery and reuse of composite materials. Coordinated by TITANIA, the project also involved the collaboration of FLUIDMECANICA SUR, DRONETOOLS, I-PUNTO END and the University of Cadiz.
CIDETEC Surface Engineering has developed its own 3R (repairable, reusable and recyclable) composite formulation, which has been used to produce carbon fibre-reinforced prepregs for the manufacture of a drone demonstrator, so that at the end of its useful life, the carbon fibre can be recovered for reuse. This innovation has been key in the construction of a final demonstrator: a large drone manufactured entirely with this new 3R material patented by CIDETEC Surface Engineering.
The RECICOM project has comprehensively addressed the challenges associated with both the repairability of aeronautical components during their useful life and their recyclability at the end of their useful life. This represents an important step towards the design of lighter, more sustainable structures that are adaptable to the circular economy requirements of the sector.
In this way, CIDETEC reaffirms its commitment to innovation in advanced materials and their practical application in technological solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future.
