ROUND TABLE: Women at the forefront of research
As part of the 2026 programme of EMAKUMEAK ZIENTZIAN, ASPEGI, in collaboration with the Basque Country Technology Park, is organising the round table discussion ‘Women at the Forefront of Research’, with the participation of three leading women from the Parke:

Iliane Rafaniello Alonso – Chief Executive Officer SURPHASE
This round table aims to highlight their careers, showcase their contributions and open up a space for real dialogue on the challenges that still remain: Why is it so difficult for women to reach leadership positions in the scientific field? What barriers—visible and invisible—still exist? What lessons can be learned from those who are already paving the way?
The discussion will also address how to encourage a greater presence of women in project management, what policies and dynamics can help balance access to leadership, and what role self-esteem, recognition and the institutional environment play.
