Prof. Luis Liz-Marzán elected member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts
The KVAB (Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts) has elected Prof. Luis Liz-Marzán, Ikerbasque Professor and Group Leader of the BioNanoPlasmonics Laboratory at CIC biomaGUNE, as a new foreign member in the Natural Sciences Class.
This recognition highlights Prof. Liz-Marzán’s scientific excellence and global impact.
Liz-Marzán is a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Spain, the European Academy of Sciences, and the European Academy. He is co-author of approximately 600 publications and 10 patents, and has received several national and international research awards, including two ERC Advanced Grants (2011-2016; 2018-2023). Her current interests include the synthesis and assembly of nanoparticles, nanoplasmonics, chiral nanomaterials, and the development of nanoparticle-based detection and diagnostic tools, which have earned her a place among the top 1% most cited researchers in her field.
The KVAB (Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts) is the Flemish Academy, a Royal Scientific Society founded in 1772, whose main task is to think and debate on issues of social, scientific, and artistic importance in an open and interdisciplinary manner.
