The Basque Innovation Agency launches a new area to experiment with new ways of innovating
Six experimentation projects will be developed in 2026 in collaboration with BAIC, Basque Quantum, BRTA, ESADE, Excelia Best Practices, SPRI, TECH friendly, Tecnalia and Telefónica
The projects focus on Physical AI, quantum computing, public innovation, disruptive innovation, innovation management and business growth
This new area of work for the Agency, which aims to test new approaches to innovation alongside its member organisations, forms part of Innobasque’s 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, approved last June
Registration to take part in the experimentation projects is open until 31 October. Two webinars will be held on 7 and 8 October to explain how the projects work and answer any questions
The Basque Innovation Agency, Innobasque, has launched a new area focused on the development of experimentation projects aimed exclusively at its member organisations. This initiative is part of the implementation of its 2026-2030 Strategic Plan and aligns with the priorities established in the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Plan 2030 (PCTI 2030).
Innobasque will experiment together with its member organisations on methodologies, processes, organisational models and new collaboration dynamics designed to broaden the ways in which organisations innovate, while contributing to the evolution of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation System itself.
Each project will be carried out in small groups comprising between six and ten member organisations and will focus on an innovative methodology that is new to the Basque Country and has demonstrated potential or evidence-based backing. In addition, every project will benefit from the collaboration of expert organisations in the relevant field.
The experimentation approach operates on two complementary levels. On the one hand, there is the methodology itself: the new approach that is tested and validated, and subsequently documented so that it can be replicated or scaled up. On the other hand, there is the application project, through which the methodology is put into practice with real participants, within a specific context and with the aim of generating direct value for the organisations involved.
Member organisations interested in taking part can register through the Basque Innovation Agency, Innobasque website until 31 October. The projects will begin between November 2026 and January 2027.
Six projects to experiment with new ways of innovating
In 2026, the new area will include six experimentation projects covering a range of different fields.
“Innovate Through Networks” will create a learning community among large companies to share knowledge and innovation management practices with local and international leaders in the field. “Explore Physical AI” will help industrial companies identify the opportunities and risks associated with this technology and translate them into strategic decisions. “Design Public Innovation Challenges” will work with public administrations and public-sector organisations to transform real needs into well-defined innovation challenges.
These projects will be joined by “Anticipate the Disruptive”, which will apply the Moonshot Thinking methodology to identify new disruptive opportunities; “Challenge Quantum”, based on a collaborative benchmarking model designed to assess quantum computing solutions against real industrial challenges; and “Scale Your Business”, focused on supporting the growth of technology-based SMEs.
The projects will be delivered in small groups and supported by expert organisations including BAIC, Basque Quantum, BRTA, ESADE, Excelia Best Practices, SPRI, TECH friendly, Tecnalia and Telefónica.
Webinars to learn more about the projects
The Basque Innovation Agency will organise two webinar-based information sessions on 7 and 8 October to present the six experimentation projects.
The projects will be divided between the two sessions, with separate time slots for each presentation, enabling member organisations to join those that are of greatest interest to them.
In addition, member organisations of the Basque Innovation Agency, Innobasque, that take part in the training activities will be able to request an exclusive support service designed to facilitate the application of the knowledge acquired to the specific reality of their organisation.
