The Industry helps 28 Basque companies with more than 4,200 workers to improve their competitiveness

The ‘Compete’ programme, managed by the SPRI Group, will provide financial aid for 21 projects through an investment of almost €3 million. With the persistence of the crisis, companies are increasingly asking for more support in projects to improve their manufacturing productive process and industrial diversification as well as to improve their market and organisation.

28 Basque companies with a workforce of 4,240 workers will benefit from €866,836 in order to improve the competitiveness of their processes. There will be a total of 21 projects that will be involved in a combined investment of €2.7 million. This is the outcome of the Compete Companies Programme for the year 2012 that is being managed by the SPRI Group, the main public corporations body of the Department of Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism, dedicated to helping the Basque business structure.

59 companies took part in this year’s programme, indicating the growing interest of Basque management to support the Basque Government’s initiatives in terms of competitiveness and innovation.

The Compete Companies Programme

The Compete Companies Programme seeks to promote the improvement in competitivity of companies from the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, through various bespoke and financial activities. Its aim is to facilitate the implementation of projects that seek to improve their competitive position in global markets through innovation, process improvement, diversification of supply and/or the search for new markets or technologies.
