The Cluster’s active participation in Empack Logistics & Automation is part of the collaboration agreement it has with Easyfairs as organisers of the fair.

On 26th and 27th February, the Basque Mobility and Logistics Cluster is participating in the Empack Logistics & Automation 2025 Fair with an active role as collaborators of the event. Within the framework of the fair, the Cluster has held this morning the X Basque Country Logistics Conference, in which it has offered nine conferences presenting some of the latest advances in logistics innovation, by leading companies in the sector. In addition, as a representative of the Basque logistics sector as a whole, the Cluster provided a meeting point from its stand 2B11 to learn about the capabilities of the Basque industry in the sector. Since its first edition, the Cluster has been collaborating with Easyfairs, promoters and organisers of the event.

10th Euskadi Logistics Conference

Now in its tenth year, the Logistics Day was organised around 9 conferences dealing with the latest innovations in Logistics. The session was opened by Óscar Barranco, Managing Director of Easyfairs for Spain and Portugal, and the Vice-President of the Mobility and Logistics Cluster of the Basque Country, Imanol Mintegui.

The speeches were opened by Anton Asla, Innovation Manager at Erhardt. Asla contextualised quantum computing and presented three cases of application in which it already has advantages. The filling of sea containers and trucks; route planning for the delivery of goods; and the optimisation of space and time in the handling of goods during storage are some of the logistics areas in which quantum offers its first benefits compared to current technologies.

Artificial Intelligence, another of the technological disruptors, was also present at the conference. María Teresa Linaza, Director of Promotion and Institutional Development at Vicomtech, presented two practical examples of application. On the one hand, in terms of decarbonisation processes in the logistics chain. On the other hand, regarding the consumption of electric vehicles and the improvement in energy efficiency.

In the vehicle segment, two presentations were given. On the one hand, Miquel Gutiérrez, sales manager of the Irizar ie truck, presented the benefits of this 100% electric truck which, due to its low entry cab type, autonomy, load capacity and connectivity possibilities, is already a successful example of urban capillary distribution. Fernando Castillo, CEO of Novaltia, presented the advantages of using drones for last-mile transport and distribution. In his experience, he focused on medicines and other non-pharmaceutical products. The use of unmanned vehicles allows access to remote or hard-to-reach areas, overcoming adverse weather conditions or acting swiftly in emergencies, offering universal access in a sustainable and socially responsible way.

In terms of warehousing, Xabier Rica (sales representative for the North Zone, Canary Islands and Portugal at AR Racking), David García (general manager of Transportes Jaylo) and Guillermo Rodríguez (general manager of MRC Soluciones) presented the success story of the logistics platform of the transport company in Tudela. The implementation of advanced industrial storage solutions has made it possible to optimise logistics processes, increasing operational efficiency and improving response capacity in a high demand environment. The work has been consolidated as a reference model in the automation of logistics platforms in the global transport and logistics sector.

From Ulma Handling Systems, Eñaut Sarriegi, commercial director, presented the case developed for the company Cosgra, a family business that sought to optimise the management of its warehouse and order picking to reduce times, minimise errors and increase productivity. Through a customised ‘Good to Person’ solution, based on mobile robots (ACR technology), the company has been able to successfully respond to a growing demand, ensuring a more efficient management of its resources.

Valle Rodríguez, R&D engineering manager at Polypal, explained the key characteristics of clad-rack warehouses and their advantages over other types of storage. In her speech, she also addressed the main technical challenges involved in their design and construction, analysed with real cases.

To conclude with the storage experiences, Beñat Irazustabarrena, business development manager for Europe at Smartlog, presented the success case developed for Eroski. The presentation presented the key challenges addressed and the challenges overcome, emphasising the value of automation and advanced digitisation to boost efficiency and sustainability in the supply chain.

The conference ended with a presentation on how energy savings certificates have become a key tool for generating monetisable energy savings in fleet management. Pablo Mir, sales manager of Mobilsafe shared success stories in the transport sector and how these solutions can be integrated into different operations to promote sustainability and economic efficiency.

Stand 2B11
