Velatia takes over as president of Euskalit

The EUSKALIT Board of Trustees has chosen Velatia to assume the presidency for the period 2026-2028, entrusting this responsibility to its representative Roberto Gil Roa, Director of Management Systems at Velatia, following the term of José Luis Díaz Manrique, Director of Quality at ITP Aero (2020-2025).

With more than 4,100 professionals in 20 countries and a global turnover of €1.1 billion in 2025, Velatia is a family-owned industrial and technology group with almost six decades of experience, which has been part of the EUSKALIT Board of Trustees since 2017. Its activity focuses on two priority areas: the development of electricity networks, and digitalisation and digital security.

The new president of EUSKALIT, Roberto Gil Roa, has a degree in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (EHU) and is a Senior Technician in Occupational Risk Prevention. He also has an Executive MBA and a Corporate Leadership Programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (PLCE), both from the University of Deusto.

He has developed his professional career at Velatia, working in different positions and organisations within the group, always linked to management, innovation and strategy, as well as leading various types of corporate projects. Since 2004, he has regularly collaborated as an assessor for the EUSKALIT Assessment Club and, on a more occasional basis, with EFQM.

It is made up of 24 representative entities from the Basque Country: Asle, Mutualia, Mondragon, Kutxabank, Confebask, ITP Aero, Osakidetza, SPRI, Velatia, Bahía de Bizkaia Gas, Euskaltel, Siemens – Gamesa, Bilbao Plaza Financiera, Bilbao Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation, Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles- CAF, Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Provincial Council of Álava, Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, EVE, BRTA, Iberdrola, Idom Ingeniería y Consultoría, EiTB and Petronor.
