Women inspiring the future: Science and Technology in Women returns to the Basque Country Technology Park
On 4, 5 and 6 November, the Basque Country Technology Park will host a new edition of Science and Technology in Women, an initiative promoted by the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE) that seeks to encourage scientific and technological vocations among younger generations and raise the profile of female researchers and professionals working in fields that are strategic for the future.
The sessions will take place at the Hernani, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Zamudio/Derio Campuses, bringing together students and young participants for a programme designed to give them first-hand insight into the realities of research, innovation and technological development, guided by leading professionals from our ecosystem. In 2026, the initiative celebrates its ninth edition and, over the course of its history, more than 4,500 young people have taken part.
The event will begin on 4 November at the Hernani Campus, in the Orona Ideo building, with the participation of female researchers from leading companies and organisations such as Graphenea and Multiverse Computing. The second session will take place on 5 November at the Vitoria-Gasteiz Campus, where professionals from Baigene and AEG will share their experiences and career paths. Finally, 6 November will see the programme move to the Zamudio/Derio Campus, with representatives from BC3 and Sisteplant taking part.
Through panel discussions moderated by Parke professionals, participants will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about research and innovation projects being developed in cutting-edge fields, as well as discover the career opportunities offered by STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
In addition to inspiring sessions with female role models, the programme includes participatory activities such as a biomimicry workshop. During the sessions at the Vitoria-Gasteiz and Zamudio/Derio Campuses, participants will also be able to visit the “Women Who Changed the World” exhibition, which explores the lives and achievements of inspirational women in the fields of science and technology.
Through this initiative, the Basque Country Technology Park reaffirms its commitment to equal opportunities, the promotion of female talent and the creation of role models who can help inspire scientific and technological vocations among young women. It represents a commitment to a more innovative, diverse and inclusive future, where knowledge and talent know no barriers.
