The company was established in 2004 to develop a new industrial division specialising in storage systems, drawing on the Group’s experience in steel processing. Since then, it has experienced significant industrial and international growth.

Among its key milestones are the creation of its Technology Centre in Zamudio in 2007, the progressive expansion of its Tudela manufacturing plant to more than 35,000 square metres, and the opening of offices and subsidiaries in strategic markets across Europe, Latin America and the United States. “These achievements have been complemented by the creation of the AR Lab in collaboration with Mondragon Unibertsitatea and the AR Racking Chair with the UPV/EHU. Today, the company has a commercial presence in more than 60 countries,” explain company representatives.

AR Racking designs, manufactures and installs industrial storage systems for a wide range of sectors, including food and beverages, automotive, logistics and transport, retail, e-commerce, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, manufacturing, chemicals, and cold storage. “The portfolio ranges from conventional pallet racking to compact Drive-In systems, mobile bases, Pallet Shuttle solutions, dynamic storage systems, picking solutions, and structures for automated and self-supporting warehouses. Each project is tailored to the customer’s operational and logistical requirements.”

The workforce comprises 344 employees. The company combines its fully automated production facility in Tudela with its R&D&I Technology Centre at the Basque Country Technology Park (Zamudio Campus), supported by an extensive international commercial network.

Innovation

The company allocates 15% of its turnover to R&D activities.

“Innovation is one of AR Racking’s strategic pillars, and we operate our own R&D&I Technology Centre at the Bizkaia Campus of the Basque Country Technology Park. This work is complemented by the AR Lab at Mondragon Unibertsitatea and the AR Racking Chair at the UPV/EHU, where research projects, structural analysis, simulation, and the continuous improvement of our storage systems are carried out.”

The most recent support received from the SPRI Group through its Industrial Cybersecurity Programme has been used to strengthen the company’s cybersecurity capabilities, “through the deployment of an outsourced Security Operations Centre (SOC) service designed to enhance the monitoring and protection of our systems and digital assets”. The company’s main challenge over the coming years is to consolidate a robust Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) model “tailored to the realities of an international industrial company such as AR Racking. This involves continuing to mature existing processes and controls within the Information Security Management System (ISMS) while integrating Artificial Intelligence into cybersecurity management in a structured way, under the leadership of our CTIO.”

The company views Artificial Intelligence as both an opportunity and a new risk vector.

“Our objective is to adopt it responsibly by establishing the necessary governance frameworks to manage the risks associated with its use. Ultimately, we aim to evolve towards a more intelligent, proactive, and strategically aligned approach to cybersecurity.”
