Boehringer Ingelheim Renews Its Commitment to Basque Health Cluster as a Business Partner to Continue Driving Healthcare Innovation from the Basque Country
The biopharmaceutical company and the cluster have strengthened a strategic alliance that will continue to foster collaboration, innovation and the development of the Basque health ecosystem through joint initiatives, sector-focused events and high-impact projects.
Basque Health Cluster and Boehringer Ingelheim have renewed their collaboration agreement under the Business Partner framework, consolidating an alliance that will continue to promote innovation, competitiveness and the international visibility of the health and biosciences sector in the Basque Country.
Following a successful first year of collaboration, both organisations have reaffirmed their commitment to working together to strengthen the Basque business landscape, enhance connections between industry, research, the healthcare system and public institutions, and promote initiatives that accelerate the sector’s transformation. During this first year of partnership, both entities have driven joint initiatives aimed at encouraging knowledge exchange and dialogue among industry, healthcare providers, public authorities and other stakeholders within the health ecosystem.
Among the initiatives developed during this period, Boehringer Ingelheim’s participation in events and activities organised by Basque Health Cluster has been particularly noteworthy, helping to create forums for dialogue and knowledge-sharing around the sector’s main challenges and opportunities. The company has also played an active role in open innovation initiatives and in strengthening links with companies and other stakeholders within the Basque health and biosciences ecosystem. This collaboration has also enabled the identification of new areas of shared interest and opportunities to further connect the capabilities of the pharmaceutical industry with the wider ecosystem.
The renewed agreement will ensure the continuity of a programme of activities that includes the organisation of strategic forums, knowledge-sharing events, networking opportunities, participation in open innovation initiatives and actions aimed at creating new opportunities for collaboration among the different players within the ecosystem.
The renewal of this alliance comes at a particularly strong moment for the healthcare sector in the Basque Country, which generates more than €9.4 billion in annual turnover, supports over 62,000 jobs and comprises more than 415 organisations, including companies, technology centres, research organisations and healthcare entities. In this context, Basque Health Cluster plays a key role as a catalyst for the ecosystem, promoting collaboration, internationalisation and innovation in order to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness.
Commenting on the collaboration with Basque Health Cluster, Guillem Bruch, Market Access and Healthcare Management Director at Boehringer Ingelheim, stated:
“We are inspired by collaboration and co-creation with all stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem as we work together towards its transformation. Partnerships such as the one we maintain with Basque Health Cluster are essential to improving the lives of present and future generations, helping to build a future capable of having a positive impact on the lives of thousands of patients. This renewal is a clear reflection of our long-term vision and of our firm commitment to continuing to build that future in the Basque Country.”
For her part, Idoia Muñoz, Director of Basque Health Cluster, said:
“For Basque Health Cluster, having companies such as Boehringer Ingelheim as Business Partners brings a dual benefit. On the one hand, it enables us to create spaces for collaboration and dialogue around the major challenges facing the healthcare system. On the other, it helps us bring these companies closer to the Basque ecosystem and allows them to see first-hand the innovation capacity that exists in the Basque Country. We have a network of companies, technology centres, researchers and professionals with world-class expertise and solutions, and we want partnerships such as this one to generate new connections and opportunities that make better use of this potential.”
The Basque Country continues to consolidate its position as one of Europe’s leading hubs for health and bioscience innovation. In this context, the collaboration between a leading company such as Boehringer Ingelheim and Basque Health Cluster helps to strengthen the ecosystem’s capacity to develop innovative solutions that have a tangible impact on people’s health.
Through this renewal, Basque Health Cluster continues to strengthen its network of Business Partners, made up of organisations committed to the development of an increasingly innovative, competitive and internationally connected health ecosystem. These partnerships help bring leading companies closer to the Basque ecosystem while simultaneously increasing the visibility of the Basque Country’s innovation capabilities, creating new connections and collaboration opportunities that contribute to accelerating the development and adoption of innovative solutions within the healthcare system.
