Campus Donostia to Host a New Edition of “Parkea Musik Fest” on 1 October Featuring Professionals from TECNALIA and Multiverse Computing

The festival will take place on Thursday 1 October from 5:00 p.m. onwards outside the Campus Donostia headquarters building, with free admission and open to everyone.

Los Veletas and Eusten, featuring TECNALIA professionals among their members, together with DJ Telmo Esnaola from Multiverse Computing, will headline an event that once again showcases the talent that exists beyond professional activity within the Parke.

The Donostia Campus of the Basque Country Technology Park will host a new edition of Parkea Musik Fest on Thursday 1 October, an initiative that transforms the technology and business environment into a musical stage for a few hours and offers the opportunity to discover another side of the people who work in the companies and organisations that form part of the Parke.

Music will begin at 5:00 p.m. outside the Campus Donostia headquarters building, located at 53 Mikeletegi Pasealekua, in an event that is free of charge and open to anyone interested. Three very different acts will take to the stage throughout the evening: Los Veletas, Eusten and DJ Telmo Esnaola, all linked to professionals from TECNALIA and Multiverse Computing.

Behind the decks will be Telmo Esnaola, a professional at Multiverse Computing who, at just 25 years of age, already has eight years of experience as a DJ. Esnaola began DJing at the age of 18 while studying Computer Engineering and has successfully combined both careers ever since. His relationship with Multiverse Computing started through his undergraduate final project and later continued when he joined the company.

Following the pandemic, he took a further step in his musical journey by becoming a regular DJ at Bataplan, one of Donostia’s best-known nightlife venues. His dual professional and musical career even led to occasional adjustments to his working hours: on Fridays following his Thursday night performances, he was allowed to start work at Multiverse Computing two hours later in order to rest before returning to his professional responsibilities.

This year’s edition will also offer audiences the first ever live performance by Eusten, the personal musical project of Iñaki Ortego Isasa, a telecommunications engineer and researcher at TECNALIA. Ortego has spent the last decade working at the technology centre in the field of neurotechnology, focusing on the use of electromagnetic waves to stimulate the nervous system.

Holding a doctorate and having completed postdoctoral research in neuroscience in Germany, he returned to the Basque Country through a Basque Government training programme before joining TECNALIA, where he has developed his research career ever since. Alongside his scientific work, music has long been an important part of his life. The songs he will perform with Eusten, both the music and lyrics, are his own compositions, originally written around two decades ago and now revived as part of this new project. Parkea Musik Fest will also mark Eusten’s debut concert.

Science communication is another area familiar to Iñaki Ortego. He is a regular contributor to the programme Faktoria on Euskadi Irratia, where he helps bring a variety of scientific topics closer to listeners.

Completing the line-up is Los Veletas, a band with two released albums available on platforms such as Spotify. Among its members is Elena Morales Areizaga, an industrial engineer working in TECNALIA’s mechanical testing laboratory, who has been part of the group for the past two years, providing lead and backing vocals.

Much More Than Music

In addition to enjoying the musical performances, employees from Parke companies attending the event at the Campus Donostia headquarters building will have the opportunity to take part in raffles, competitions and prize draws. Among the most popular activities in previous editions have been the table football tournament and the baking competition. In the latter case, the panel responsible for selecting the best sponge cake will be made up of the team from Bizi restaurant, located within the Technology Park.

Parkea Musik Fest was originally launched at Campus Donostia several years ago as a result of the “A Challenge for the Parke” project, an open innovation initiative designed to gather ideas capable of contributing to both the improvement of the Basque Country Technology Park and the quality of life of those who carry out their professional activities there.

Now incorporated into the activities of BeParke Kluba, the festival has established itself as a meeting point that uses music, culture and leisure to strengthen personal connections and foster a greater sense of community.

Alongside the live performances, attendees will also be able to participate in a range of prize draws throughout the event, completing a programme designed not only to enjoy music but also to encourage new connections in an atmosphere beyond the strictly professional environment.
