The network is an initiative of the Basque Innovation Agency Innobasque, and it was created with the aim of internationalising these Basque firms. The Espa Network enhances the knowledge built up as part of the successful projects resulting from its intervention in the Basque Country’s social and economic transformation, such as the creation of EVE (the Basque Energy Board), the Osakidetza (Basque Health Service), Metro Bilbao, the Basque cooperative movement, the “clustering” of the Basque business fabric, business diversification or the acclaimed transformation of Bilbao. These companies work in collaboration, forming a network that provides them with sufficient dimension to guarantee their international expansion process.
