The Basque Government recognises the Basque Country Technology Park and 60 other organisations for their commitment to the SDGs at the Euskadi Agenda 2030 Awards

The Technology Park has been recognised in the ‘Konpromisoa’ category for promoting the integration of the SDGs as a factor of competitiveness and sustainability.
For the first time, the Basque Government has presented the Euskadi Agenda 2030 Awards in recognition of the work of different organisations for their commitment to integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their management. A total of 60 organisations were recognised, including the Basque Country Technology Park.
In a ceremony presided over by the Lehendakari Imanol Pradales, he recognised companies and entities committed to a ‘human’ model of competitiveness, which puts people at the centre, and stressed that ‘it is not enough to set ambitious objectives. It is necessary to define action plans, clear indicators and tools to measure the impact of what we do’. Pradales stressed that sustainability is a global challenge, but also an individual and shared responsibility, ‘where each company, each organisation and each person has a role to play. This responsibility is embodied in actions that contribute to building a better future: co-responsible work-life balance, flexible working hours, inclusive employment, women’s leadership in the business world, training, mental health programmes and decarbonisation, for example’.
The purpose of the awards is twofold: on the one hand, to identify those organisations that are most advanced in the implementation of the SDGs, so that their good practices serve as a reference and inspiration for other entities; and on the other hand, to publicly highlight the effort made and the degree of progress achieved in this area.
Contribution to SDGs and the Euskadi Basque Country 2030 Agenda
As part of its Strategic Plan, the Basque Country Technology Park aims to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and is aligned with the Euskadi Basque Country 2030 Agenda.
To achieve this, eight strategic lines have been defined that have a direct impact on 14 of the 17 UN SDGs. These include ‘Smart and Sustainable infrastructure’ and ‘Differential services’, which have a direct impact on 9 of the SDGs. In addition, the strategic lines are designed to achieve a balance between economic, social and environmental sustainability.
SDGs 8 and 9, which refer to ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’ and ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’, respectively, are achieved by virtually all strategic lines. This demonstrates the commitment to sustainable development and the importance of innovation and technology in achieving the SDGs and building a better future for all.
