‘Women in Science and Technology’ launches its 9th edition with the publication of the second list featuring 90 leading women from science and technology parks
The ‘Women in Science and Technology’ initiative, promoted by the Spanish Association of Science and Technology Parks (APTE) together with 17 of its member parks, has launched its ninth edition with the publication of the second list of leading women in STEAM linked to Spanish science and technology parks. This new resource, available on the APTE website, brings together 90 professionals from 33 member parks working in fields as diverse as biomedicine, engineering, artificial intelligence, energy, agri-food and innovation management.
The aim of this list is to raise the profile of leading women in science and technology and provide younger generations with real-life role models, helping to reduce the gender gap in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) career aspirations.
The activities forming part of the ninth edition of Women in Science and Technology will run until February 2027 and will actively involve 17 science and technology parks that are members of APTE, including the Basque Country Technology Park. Activities will include school visits, practical workshops, exhibitions, talks and a national competition focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The exhibitions include ‘Women Who Changed the World’, which showcases 35 pioneering women in science and technology, and ‘Women Who Are Changing the World’, which now features 279 professionals linked to the participating parks. The illustrated guides What Do I Want to Be When I Grow Up? and What Are Disruptive Technologies? will also be distributed, showcasing examples of STEAM career opportunities.
As a new feature this year, the national competition will focus on SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, with the aim of promoting inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and human settlements.
All the latest information about the initiative, the list of leading women in STEAM, the schedule of events and the rules of the SDG competition is available on the project’s official website and through APTE’s social media profiles.
