Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, News

The system enables secure and efficient management of the dispensing and monitoring of prescribed medicines, providing added value to the patient care process.

Ayesa, a global provider of technology and engineering services, has renewed its contract with the Council of Pharmacists of the Basque Country and the Official Associations of Pharmacists of Alava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, to continue with the Electronic Prescription Service in the territory.

This agreement, which runs until 2028, reinforces Ayesa’s commitment to guarantee the continuity, improvement and evolution of the technological services that support the ‘e-Rezeta’ system in the Basque Country. With this renewal, the company strengthens its relationship of more than a decade with the Basque pharmaceutical sector, promoting an infrastructure that connects more than 800 pharmacy offices with the region’s healthcare system.

The contracted service is designed to ensure that pharmacies have a reliable, agile and accessible system that facilitates the dispensing of medicines through the Electronic Prescription. Thanks to integration with the Basque Government’s Department of Health and Osakidetza, the system allows pharmacists to securely and efficiently manage the dispensing and monitoring of prescribed medicines, adding value to the patient care process in the Basque Country.

Main Components of the Service

The contract is structured in three fundamental areas, each designed to respond to the different operational needs of the system and guarantee its continuous availability.

The User Service Centre is a key pillar for the support and resolution of day-to-day incidents that may arise in the field of Electronic Prescription. It is responsible for direct attention to pharmacists, dealing with their queries and helping them to resolve doubts or incidents related to dispensing. Its functions include coordination with communications providers and other agents for the rapid resolution of incidents, as well as the management of technical and security documentation.

The Technical Office is focused on the management and maintenance of the communication node that links the pharmacy offices with the systems of the Department of Health and Osakidetza. It is in charge of supervising, evolving and maintaining the software of the collegiate node so that it works without interruptions, and coordinates and attends to the suppliers of pharmacy management applications (AGFs). It also has a specific laboratory for the verification of versions and the analysis of incidents, with the aim of ensuring the compatibility and effectiveness of all solutions that interact with the electronic prescription system.

The third area is Infrastructure Maintenance Services. The continuity of a secure and reliable system is supported through comprehensive and dedicated maintenance. This service includes preventive, corrective and evolutionary maintenance of the servers, communication systems and databases that support the Electronic Prescription system in the Basque Country, by means of a rigorous monitoring and alert system. This ensures the proactive resolution of problems, avoiding interruptions and contributing to the security and efficiency of the service.

This new agreement incorporates a strategic focus on continuous improvement, where Ayesa will implement evolutionary improvements in the software and will develop specific projects to update and modernise the tools as the needs of the service change. In this way, the Electronic Prescription system will be able to incorporate new technological advances and respond quickly to regulatory requirements, user demands and the most advanced security standards.
