This social and environmental initiative, designed to give a second life to unused mobile phones, will be carried out in Euskaltel stores across the Basque Country and Navarre, as well as at the Bizkaia Euskaltel Digital Center.

Anyone wishing to take part will be able to donate their unused mobile phones for reuse and recycling, thereby contributing to humanitarian and environmental projects.

The campaign is yet another example of the company’s commitment to sustainability and social action.

Euskaltel and Alboan have joined forces to launch the Mobile Phones for the Earth campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting the reuse and recycling of unused mobile phones and transforming these devices into an opportunity to support humanitarian and environmental projects.

The campaign will enable anyone interested in participating to donate their old mobile phones at Euskaltel stores located throughout the Basque Country, as well as at the Bizkaia Euskaltel Digital Center in the heart of Bilbao. To facilitate donations, Euskaltel’s points of sale will be equipped with collection boxes and information leaflets about the initiative. In addition, staff at Euskaltel’s 45 stores across the Basque Country and Navarre will inform customers and visitors who come to renew their handset about the possibility of donating their old mobile phone and encourage them to take part in the campaign.

Fernando Seco, Marketing Director at Euskaltel, highlighted the importance of the initiative:

“As a company committed to the communities in which we operate, our role also involves promoting initiatives that make a meaningful contribution and generate a genuinely positive impact. We want this understanding of our responsibility to be reflected in our day-to-day activities and in Euskaltel’s relationship with society.”

For her part, Julia Aramendi, Alboan’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, emphasised that the initiative seeks:

“to raise public awareness of the impact generated by the manufacture of these technological devices, particularly regarding their components. In addition to encouraging recycling and reuse, the project helps reduce the impact of production by extending the lifespan of mobile phones while also funding humanitarian initiatives.”

Reuse, Recycling and Social Commitment

Mobile Phones for the Earth pursues a dual objective. On the one hand, it aims to give a second life to devices that are no longer in use by encouraging their reuse and recycling, thereby contributing to more sustainable management of electronic waste. On the other hand, it generates funds for humanitarian and environmental projects through the proceeds obtained. In this way, Euskaltel and Alboan help create a positive impact on both people and the environment.

Through Mobile Phones for the Earth, Euskaltel reaffirms its commitment to society by supporting initiatives that deliver social, economic and environmental benefits to the communities in which it operates.
