Lantek and Araski renew their collaboration to continue promoting female talent in sport and technology

Álava, News

Lantek, the Alava-based multinational pioneer in the digital transformation of the sheet metal and metal cutting and processing sector, has renewed its sponsorship of the Araski women’s basketball team for the third consecutive year.

Both organisations share their commitment to the development of female talent, equality and the culture of teamwork, maxims that have been highlighted in the different activities carried out during these years of collaboration.

The support and promotion of female talent is the basis of Araski, a project created for the training and promotion of women in basketball, which aims to educate women not only in relation to physical-sports aspects, but also to promote personal development from a comprehensive sports education perspective, with values related to the empowerment of women, leadership and decision-making, the creation of references and the equality of women and men in sport.

Lantek, for its part, promotes female talent through its participation in different initiatives such as Inspira STEAM. This activity, promoted by the University of Deusto, aims to support the work carried out by women by opening the doors to quality STEAM job opportunities with future projection, promoting gender equality.

In fact, 58% of the recruitments made in STEAM profiles by the company in Alava during the last financial year were women, a figure that confirms that more and more women feel that their professional careers can be developed in STEAM professions.

“Lantek and Araski share similar values and we always put people at the centre, as they are the greatest asset we can have. The team’s commitment to its brand is what makes it grow and become a benchmark. This is what Araski has shown and what we continue to support by renewing our collaboration. We defend similar principles of action and this agreement continues to allow us to walk together towards a more egalitarian future”, says Gemma Nogales, Director of Human Resources at Lantek.

Likewise, throughout these two years of collaboration, and on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Araski quarry teams visited Lantek’s headquarters in the Vitoria-Gasteiz Campus of the Basque Country Technology Park on two occasions. There, they were able to learn first-hand about the work of Lantek professionals in the field of technology, the prominent role of women in technological professions and the challenging gender stereotypes.

In this, Lantek’s third year as a sponsor, the company from Alava has given each member of the club, players and coaches, a sweatshirt with the slogan “Developed To Fight, Deleveloped To Win”. A sweatshirt that the players and coaches are already proudly wearing to every training session and every match.
