Basque Country Technology Park collaborates once again in Food 4 Future-Expo Foodtech 2024

It joins the event as a supporting partner, together with the main agents and leading companies in the foodtech field at local, national and international level.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Basque Country Technology Park is joining Food 4 Future-Expo Foodtech 2024, the innovation event for professionals from the entire value chain of the food sector, which will take place from 16 to 18 April at the BEC-Bilbao Exhibiton Center.

Under the slogan ‘Foodtech 6.0’, F4F – Expo Foodtech will bring together more than 8,000 visiting professionals, 280 exhibiting firms, and more than 450 international experts to share solutions, strategies and success stories that will help transform food industry production plants towards greener, more sustainable, technological and digital factories.

Once again this year, Euskadi Technology Park is participating in this initiative as a supporting partner, together with the main agents and leading companies in the foodtech field at local, national and international level, who will present their strategies and technologies to face the challenges of the food sector. The event includes numerous companies and technology centres based on the campuses of the Basque Country Technology Park, and is led by Azti, an international benchmark centre in the food sector, based on the Zamudio/Derio Campus. Companies and research centres located in Parke such as EIT Food, Neiker, Tecnalia, or the Basque Culinary Center. Clusters and associations such as the Basque Food Cluster will be there to showcase the latest foodtech technologies in robotics and automation, sustainability, and food science and safety, among other solutions that will make Bilbao the world capital of food innovation.

In the words of Rogelio Pozo, Director of the Food 4 Future World Summit and CEO of AZTI: “This year, the latest advances in precision agriculture, sustainable practices and conservation technologies will be on display, and the impact of generative AI and Big Data on the food supply chain will be addressed.

The consequences of the inflationary environment and geopolitical factors for the sector will also be discussed. In addition, different COOs from leading companies in the food industry will address the challenges and trends of the future, changes in consumer demands, food safety and the incorporation of the latest generation of ingredients,

The innovation ecosystem of the different campuses has been strengthened in recent years by a growing interest in the field of food and food technologies, and more and more startups, scaleups and high-tech companies have joined the ecosystem. The Basque Country Technology Park is a very favourable ecosystem for the start-up and development of projects in the food sector with a highly technological component, being precisely this area, the food sector, a niche of opportunity in the RIS3 smart specialisation strategy of the Basque Country.

The Basque Country Technology Park is also a member of the advisory board of Food 4 Future-Expo Foodtech 2024, a meeting place for the main partners and collaborators of the event, where they can share ideas and new developments that contribute to strengthening the event and its positioning as a key space where the latest trends and innovations in the food industry will be debated and made known.

In line with this strategy to boost the foodtech sector, the Basque Country Technology Park will host a pioneering campus in Ortuella, specialising in the food industry and advanced services, conceived as a unique space in which to develop and attract innovative companies and start-ups in the sector, which is strategic for the socio-economic development of the Basque Country.

The development of this food campus within the Park has as its main objective the activation of the entrepreneurial potential of the food industry, supporting and accompanying on an individual basis innovative technology-based companies and projects, lines of business of food companies with the capacity to drag in the Basque production sector, or business initiatives that favour the generation of complete food chains, and thus enabling the Basque Country to become an attractive environment for attracting new projects and investment from abroad.
