The Basque Technology Parks make progress in their expansion in Gipuzkoa with the awarding of the new building for the Hernani Campus in Galarreta
The project will be completed by next January and construction is scheduled to start in 2024.
The new building will have a floor area of 10,000 m2 and construction is scheduled to be completed in early 2026.
Environmentally sustainable building principles, eco-design and circular economy will be applied in the construction of this new building.
This action also makes it possible to respond to the need for growth of the Parks in Gipuzkoa, as their buildings are currently at 95% occupancy.
The Basque Technology Parks have awarded the contract for the drafting of the project and the project management of the new building on the Hernani Campus (Galarreta). The drafting of the project will be completed this year and the construction work is expected to take 24 months. The new building will be located next to the main roundabout, in a highly visible location on the access to the Hernani Campus and close to all public services. The company awarded the contract is IDOM Consulting Engineering Architecture S.A.U.
The new construction will be built on a plot of 6,045 m2 and will be used for offices, laboratories or R&D centres. The buildable area of the plot is 10,000 m2 and the maximum height of the building will be 19 m. The estimated cost of the building is 18.2 million euros.
With this award, the Basque Technology Parks are reinforcing their institutional commitment to the Hernani Campus, which has already reached its first milestone with the agreement for the implementation of the new facilities of the company Couth, which will complete the construction of its building in July of this year. It is also an important step towards meeting the demand for new space in Gipuzkoa in view of the high occupancy rate – close to 100% of its buildings.
Work to start in 2024
Work on the new building in Galarreta is scheduled to begin in 2024, with a maximum completion period of 24 months. The construction will be in line with the objectives of Parke Verde and Parke Smart, established in the Strategic Plan for the Basque Technology Parks, and will include a commitment to use recycled materials on site, guaranteeing a percentage of 40% of the total building work.
The building will be surrounded by green areas, with autochthonous species adapted to the climate, taking into account factors such as sunshine, soil quality and slope at all stages of vegetation and work throughout the year. The green areas will include solutions for the reincorporation of organic matter and systems for the collection and reuse of rainwater.
