The event, held at the Donostia Campus, served as a meeting point for organisations to explore technology and people-centred leadership as key drivers for anticipating future challenges

Applied research and technological development centre TECNALIA brought together around one hundred member companies at its third annual gathering, held in a particularly fitting venue: TECNALIA’s Proactive Factory Lab, located at the Donostia Campus of the Basque Country Technology Park. This advanced manufacturing laboratory was created to anticipate the evolving needs of industry and society while boosting competitiveness. It provided the ideal setting for the two pillars that defined the event: the importance of technological development as a foundation for anticipating business needs, and the leadership of people in turning that vision into reality.

The event featured contributions from TECNALIA’s Chairman, Alex Belaustegui; Vice-Chairwoman, María José Armendariz; and Chief Executive Officer, Jesús Valero, who spoke about how innovation requires an inseparable combination of technology to anticipate change and people to lead future challenges, transforming them into opportunities and competitive advantages.

Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from Jon Hernández, one of Spain’s leading AI communicators, who posed a key question: Will artificial intelligence be a manageable wave or an unstoppable tsunami? Participants witnessed a live demonstration of the interaction between artificial intelligence and large-scale robotics in a factory environment designed to anticipate the future of industry.

The programme also included a round-table discussion on artificial intelligence, during which several industry leaders shared their perspectives on the future of their respective sectors. Speakers included Javier Garate, Director of Organisation and Systems at IMQ; Marian Aradillas, Data & AI Director at AYESA DIGITAL; Ricardo Enríquez, Head of Quantum at REPSOL; Silvia Núñez, Head of Artificial Intelligence at IBERDROLA ESPAÑA; and Sergio Gil, Artificial Intelligence Specialist at TECNALIA. Together, they addressed the opportunities and challenges that AI presents across different industries and highlighted its growing role in shaping the future of business and society.
